Infrastructure & Renewable Energy Engineer

About the role

The Infrastructure & Renewable Energy Engineer will provide technical leadership for renewable energy initiatives and broader built‑environment programmes across the Aga Khan Foundation’s global portfolio. Reporting to the Global Lead, Built Environment, the role works closely with country teams, consultants, contractors and development partners to ensure climate‑responsive, high‑quality infrastructure delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical design and implementation of solar PV, hybrid energy systems, mini‑grids, biogas, battery storage and energy‑efficiency solutions.
• Advise country teams on renewable‑energy options for public facilities, community infrastructure and household‑level projects.
• Review technical studies, engineering designs, Bills of Quantities, specifications and consultant deliverables.
• Provide guidance during procurement, commissioning and hand‑over of renewable‑energy systems.
• Support quality‑assurance through site visits, monitoring missions and technical reviews.
• Assist the Global Lead, Built Environment in overseeing infrastructure projects such as schools, health facilities, WASH systems, roads and climate‑resilient settlements.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors and country engineering teams to ensure compliance and timely delivery.
