Lead IoT Edge Architect

About the role

We are seeking a Lead IoT Edge Architect to design and implement the edge layer that connects our platform to physical hardware at client sites in Islamabad. The role involves creating a secure, scalable integration framework for devices such as controllers, meters, lifts, and sensors from multiple vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Own the complete edge computing architecture, including gateways, protocol adapters, local data processing, buffering, and cloud synchronization.
• Design and deliver a reusable, modular integration framework that simplifies onboarding of new hardware vendors.
• Define and enforce security models for device identity, provisioning, authentication, and certificate lifecycle management.
• Develop resilient system behavior for offline conditions, fail‑safe mechanisms, and remote device management.
• Lead over‑the‑air update strategy, remote diagnostics, and rollback capabilities for live client sites.
• Integrate diverse hardware types (access controllers, elevators, barrier gates, energy meters, environmental sensors) using vendor‑specific protocols.
• Build low‑latency telemetry pipelines to ensure reliable command and control between devices and cloud infrastructure.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and deploying edge solutions in industrial or commercial IoT environments.
• Strong communication skills to interact with site owners, facility teams, and hardware vendors.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and mentor junior engineers.

Required skills

• Industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC-UA, BACnet).
• Embedded software development.
• Cloud IoT platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT).
• Edge computing and gateway architecture.
• Device identity, provisioning, and certificate management.
• Over‑the‑air (OTA) updates and remote diagnostics.
• Real‑time troubleshooting and fail‑safe system design.
