Logistics Officer

About the role

The Logistics Officer will support daily planning and coordination of logistics operations, ensuring cost‑effective delivery of food assistance and compliance with WFP policies. The role involves monitoring contracted services, analysing data, and providing technical guidance to enhance the efficiency of the supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of logistics plans and processes in line with WFP standards.
• Monitor services provided by external contractors to ensure objectives are met cost‑effectively.
• Collect and analyse data, recommend actions to senior staff to improve local logistics performance.
• Conduct regular financial analysis and budget reviews, drawing insights to optimise fund use.
• Support operational pipeline planning and manage procurement, shipping, port operations, customs clearance, loading/discharging, and transport contracting.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other units, especially during emergency response.
• Guide and supervise junior staff, acting as a point of referral for complex queries.
• Prepare accurate and timely reporting, including KPIs, to support WFP‑wide logistics decision‑making.
• Assist in capacity building for WFP staff and partners through training material design and review.
• Participate in emergency logistics preparedness, including logistics capacity assessments.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, Mathematics or a related field (or a first degree with relevant experience).
• 3 years of relevant professional/managerial experience with a master’s degree or 5 years with a bachelor’s degree in a supply‑chain related industry.
