Machine Technician – Packaging Equipment

About the role

The Machine Technician will maintain, troubleshoot and optimise packaging machinery across production lines, ensuring equipment reliability, safety and product quality in a regulated environment. The role is based on‑site in Korangi, Karachi and works closely with production, maintenance and quality teams to minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance and calibration of packaging machines, conveyors and auxiliary equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and pneumatic faults and carry out timely repairs.
• Disassemble and reassemble machine components, replace worn parts and adjust mechanisms to meet product specifications.
• Set up machines for production runs, change‑overs and format adjustments while minimising waste.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, report recurring issues and suggest improvements to increase equipment uptime.
• Follow safety, cleanroom and GMP procedures and cooperate with quality control during equipment validations.

Required profile

• Diploma or trade certificate in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Technology, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• At least 3 years of practical experience in machinery maintenance within packaging or manufacturing.
• Proficiency with gearboxes, bearings, couplings, shafts, belts, chain drives and ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Experience troubleshooting wiring, motors, sensors, solenoids and pneumatic systems; ability to read basic electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with packaging equipment such as cartoners, blister machines, filling or sealing machines.
• Competent with hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments and alignment techniques.
• Knowledge of preventive‑maintenance programmes, spare‑parts control and maintenance logging.
• Strong problem‑solving skills for fault isolation, root‑cause analysis and corrective action.
