Mechanical Engineer, Outreach

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer, Outreach will join the Project and Construction Management team at Aga Khan University. Reporting to the Project Manager or Technical Manager, you will oversee mechanical works for outreach construction projects from design review through commissioning and close‑out.

Key responsibilities

• Study design packages, verify Bill of Quantities (BOQ) against drawings and flag discrepancies.
• Prepare and review tender packages, including BOQ, drawings and specifications.
• Lead on‑site supervision of mechanical works, ensuring compliance with design, specifications, BOQ and applicable codes.
• Review and approve technical proposals for equipment based on compliance sheets.
• Check contractor shop and design drawings, reporting any issues to senior engineers or managers.
• Coordinate daily with other trades to prevent execution conflicts.
• Measure executed quantities, verify contractor bills and prepare purchase requisitions.
• Inspect delivered materials, generate Technical Inspection Reports and manage punch‑list items.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, as‑built drawing preparation and project close‑out documentation.
• Monitor Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) compliance throughout construction activities.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by management.
