Medical Editor

About the role

The Medical Editor ensures that all marketing materials produced for pharmaceutical and life‑science clients are grammatically flawless, factually accurate, and fully compliant with AMA style, client guidelines, and FDA regulations. Working within the Editorial team, the role supports the creation of high‑quality content across multiple campaigns while adhering to U.S. Eastern Time business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Edit initial drafts for AMA style, client style, FDA rules, grammar, spelling, and internal consistency.
• Fact‑check content, interpreting scientific and medical data to verify accuracy.
• Maintain formatting and visual layout quality.
• Conduct full editorial reviews, including copy‑editing, W4W checks, fact‑checking, and change tracking throughout the job lifecycle.
• Create and update comprehensive style guides for assigned accounts.
• Participate in kickoff and status meetings, helping develop project timelines.
• Build strong working relationships with internal brand and department teams.
• Provide backup support to other editorial staff and track time spent on each job daily.
• Communicate workload, workflow, and status updates to Editorial Supervisors or Directors.
• Oversee editors assisting on projects to ensure editorial quality and meet deadlines.

Required profile

• Available to work during U.S. Eastern Time business hours.
• Strong understanding of AMA style, FDA regulations, and scientific/medical content.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to editorial integrity.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AMA style guidelines.
• Knowledge of FDA regulatory requirements for medical marketing.
• Advanced copy‑editing and fact‑checking abilities.
