Mobile Hybrid Engineer

About the role

We build and run Bykea's mobile experience, the apps that move people and parcels across Pakistan at real scale. As a Mobile Hybrid Engineer you will own features across iOS and Android from a single hybrid codebase, and dive into native Swift or Kotlin when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain core features in the hybrid mobile app for both iOS and Android.
• Write or debug native modules (Swift/Kotlin) for maps, payments, GPS, push notifications, and other platform‑specific needs.
• Design and implement low‑latency, high‑availability components, identifying and fixing performance bottlenecks.
• Integrate with RESTful APIs and third‑party SDKs, handling synchronous and asynchronous communication with backend microservices.
• Implement offline storage, caching, threading and sync logic to ensure app reliability on poor networks.
• Ensure security and data protection for sensitive user, location and payment information.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering teams to define, design and ship new features while maintaining code quality and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of mobile development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with a hybrid framework such as React Native or Flutter.
• Solid understanding of native iOS (Swift) and/or Android (Kotlin/Java) development.
• Strong problem‑solving instincts, especially for platform‑specific bugs and performance issues.
• Ability to work in a fast‑moving, high‑traffic environment handling real transactions.
