Nutrition Facilitator

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is launching a short‑term, UNICEF‑funded nutrition project in Punjab. Based in Lodhran, the Nutrition Facilitator will join a three‑member community outreach team to screen for malnutrition, refer children for treatment, and provide nutrition counseling across seven districts.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct door‑to‑door and village‑level malnutrition screening using MUAC tape and checking for bilateral pitting oedema, following CMAM protocols.
• Identify, record, and refer children with acute malnutrition to the nearest health facility or OTP/SC site, and coordinate follow‑up visits to monitor treatment progress.
• Deliver counseling sessions to mother and father groups on child nutrition, early signs of malnutrition, and appropriate feeding practices, in collaboration with the IYCF Counselor.
• Maintain accurate screening, referral, and follow‑up records for each village and submit regular reports to the District Project Officer.
• Work closely with the IYCF Counselor and Community Outreach Worker to plan outreach activities, divide coverage areas, and report challenges to the District Program Officer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree; certification or training in nutrition or community health is an advantage.
• 2–3 years of work experience, including at least 1 year in nutrition or health programs, preferably with an NGO.
• Experience with community‑based nutrition programs, CMAM/MUAC screening, and door‑to‑door outreach is preferred.
• Strong communication skills for engaging with mothers, fathers, and community members.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the project area, including on foot.
