Optometrist

About the role

The Optometrist will lead the Refraction unit, providing comprehensive eye care services including examinations, prescriptions, and management of complex ocular conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform simple and cycloplegic refraction, prescribe advanced spectacle and contact lenses, and conduct low‑vision assessments.
• Diagnose, manage and refer ocular diseases, oversee pre‑ and post‑surgical cataract and laser care, and handle ocular emergencies.
• Supervise ophthalmic technicians, opticians and clinical technologists, and lead eye‑health camps and research activities.

Required profile

• Qualified optometrist with experience in advanced refractive procedures, contact lens fitting for paediatric and keratoconus cases, and vision therapy.
• Ability to interpret diagnostic tests such as B‑Scan, FFA, OCT, perimetry and corneal topography.

Required skills

• Simple and cycloplegic refraction
• Prescription of progressive, aspheric and safety spectacles
• Contact lens fitting (rigid, soft, orthokeratology, scleral)
• Low‑vision assessment and rehabilitation
• Diagnostic testing: B‑Scan, FFA, OCT, perimetry, corneal topography
• Management of keratoconus, myopia progression and ocular emergencies
