Principal Consultant – Data Governance (Strategy Execution & Value Realization)

About the role

Inbox Business Technologies seeks an experienced Principal Consultant to lead data and AI governance within a multi‑vertical Strategy Execution & Value Realization Office. The role ensures strategic initiatives are delivered with rigorous governance, measurable benefits, and sustained architectural compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own the operating model, governance structure, methodologies, templates and tools for data‑and‑AI vertical strategy execution.
• Coordinate cross‑vertical portfolio visibility, dependency mapping and escalation of issues beyond a single vertical’s authority.
• Manage governance framework for initiative delivery, including stage gates, risk/issue management, budget oversight and change‑request governance.
• Lead the governance relationship with Enterprise Architecture, coordinating Architecture Review Board participation and ensuring compliance with enterprise standards.
• Own executive reporting: dashboards, portfolio reports, scorecards and decision‑support insights for senior stakeholders.
• Define benefit‑realization methodology, validate business cases and confirm delivery of expected value before closure.
• Develop and maintain governance frameworks, standards, templates and KPI cascade tooling across the portfolio.
• Conduct maturity assessments, benchmark against industry practice and drive improvement initiatives.
• Plan transition and continuity for the governance function at the end of the current strategy horizon.
• Provide senior mentorship and quality oversight to supporting consultants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Business or Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in data governance, enterprise/programme governance or strategy execution advisory, with 3‑5 years at a principal/senior advisory level.
• Proven experience designing and running governance operating models for large, multi‑workstream strategic portfolios.
• Demonstrated ability to engage Enterprise Architecture functions, Architecture Review Boards and senior executive stakeholders.

Required skills

• Portfolio and programme governance frameworks (MoP, MSP, P3O).
• Data governance frameworks (DAMA‑DMBOK).
• Benefits realization methodology and KPI architecture design.
• Executive reporting and escalation management.
• CDMP (DAMA) – preferred.
• PMP / PgMP or MoP – preferred.
• TOGAF – a plus.
