Protection Case Worker (PCM)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking Protection Case Workers to deliver protection case management services in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The role involves managing a caseload of individuals facing protection risks, including gender‑based violence and child protection concerns, within a survivor‑centered, Do No Harm framework.

Key responsibilities

• Provide full protection case management (intake, assessment, safety planning, referrals, follow‑up and closure) in line with IRC and IOM guidelines.
• Identify and register vulnerable individuals through community outreach, referrals and self‑referrals, prioritising women at risk, unaccompanied children, persons with disabilities and undocumented persons.
• Coordinate quality referrals to specialised services such as legal aid, GBV response, child protection, health, MHPSS and cash‑for‑protection programmes.
• Maintain accurate case records in the Information Management System and report caseload status to supervisors.
• Build and maintain relationships with district‑level partners, including government departments, UN agencies and NGOs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, International Relations or a related field.
• 1–2 years of field experience in protection case management, preferably in emergency settings.
• Ability to work under pressure in an unstable security environment and handle confidential information.
• Good written and spoken English and Urdu; proficiency in Pashtu or other local languages.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using an Information Management System for client data tracking.
