Red Hat System Administrator

About the role

Fusemachines is seeking a remote Red Hat System Administrator to manage and support its Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and OpenShift Container Platform environments. The role involves ensuring high‑availability, applying patches, and coordinating with a colocation facility in Nebraska.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain RHEL and Red Hat OpenShift clusters across all nodes.
• Apply OS, platform patches, security updates, and OpenShift version upgrades with minimal downtime.
• Perform node lifecycle operations such as cordon/drain, reboot, replacement, and scaling.
• Maintain Dell PowerEdge server hardware, including firmware updates via iDRAC, RAID/storage controllers, and network interfaces.
• Coordinate remote‑hands support, power, cooling, and physical access with the Nebraska colocation facility.
• Monitor hardware health, manage warranty claims, and handle vendor support cases with Dell and IBM.
• Manage OpenShift control plane, etcd, SDN/OVN networking, storage classes, and ingress routing.
• Administer container registries, projects, namespaces, RBAC, and resource quotas.
• Use OpenShift‑native monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana) to track cluster health and respond to alerts.
• Support IBM Watson/IBM Cloud Pak for Data deployments, applying IBM patches and managing license entitlements.
• Plan and execute maintenance windows for the Watson/Fusion layer with minimal disruption.
• Manage persistent storage solutions such as ODF/Ceph, NFS, or SAN and implement backup/testing procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience administering RHEL and OpenShift environments.
• Hands‑on experience with Dell PowerEdge servers, iDRAC, and RAID/storage hardware.
• Familiarity with IBM Watson/IBM Cloud Pak for Data deployments on OpenShift.
• Ability to work remotely within the 1‑10 PM PKT shift.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for both software and hardware components.
