Remote Physics Expert

About the role

Turing is seeking a remote Physics Expert to help fine‑tune large language models using deep analytical and physics expertise. You will design challenging physics problems, create high‑quality solutions, and collaborate with LLM researchers to push AI capabilities in the physical sciences.

Key responsibilities

• Design and solve challenging physics problems that test the boundaries of large language models.
• Create clear, step‑by‑step, gold‑standard solutions with detailed reasoning.
• Work with LLM researchers to align task designs with evaluation goals, focusing on areas where models struggle.
• Define and build new evaluation benchmarks across physics curricula from early undergraduate to PhD‑level topics.

Required profile

• Educational background or Doctorate in Physics, Applied Physics, or an equivalent technical field.
• Experience in AI evaluation, data annotation, content review, quality assurance, or a related analytical role is preferred but not required.

Required skills

• Strong analytical, research, and problem‑solving skills with excellent English comprehension.
• Exceptional structured written communication and ability to provide detailed annotations remotely.
• Strong lateral thinking to construct novel scenarios and evaluate complex reasoning pathways.
• Self‑motivated and capable of operating independently in a fast‑paced, remote‑first environment.
• Personal desktop/laptop with a stable, high‑speed internet connection.

What we offer

• Commitments required: at least 4 hours per day up to 40 hours per week with 4 hours of overlap with PST.
• Engagement type: Contractor.
• Engagement length: 12 weeks.
