Safety Engineer – Plant Safety & Emergency Response

About the role

Wärtsilä is seeking a Safety Engineer to lead safety management for its plant in Rawalpindi. You will develop and maintain safety documentation, oversee emergency preparedness, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare safety manual, emergency response plan, spill prevention plan, and fire‑fighting plan for the plant.
• Observe work in progress, verify proper use of safety equipment and adherence to procedures.
• Implement Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) on site.
• Recommend corrective actions and follow up to close safety violations.
• Review incidents/accidents, analyse root causes and propose preventive measures.
• Report near‑miss events and conduct investigations.
• Train employees on safe work practices, fire fighting, emergency response and first aid.
• Supervise fire drills and perform monthly safety inspections.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in safety engineering or industrial safety.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and hazard assessment methodologies.
• Ability to conduct training and lead emergency response activities.
