Senior Data Governance Consultant – Azure / Databricks

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Governance Consultant with 7‑9 years of experience to join a global Data Governance team. The role focuses on designing and implementing governance frameworks on Azure and Databricks platforms, working remotely with one day per week on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement data governance frameworks, policies, standards and operating models.
• Deploy and manage Microsoft Purview and/or Databricks Unity Catalog for cataloguing, metadata, lineage, classification and governance.
• Develop and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, data domains and critical data elements.
• Establish data ownership, stewardship and RACI models, and define data quality rules, KPIs and remediation processes.
• Collaborate with data engineering, architecture, security and compliance teams to embed governance‑by‑design.
• Conduct governance assessments, identify gaps and produce road‑maps and executive‑level recommendations.

Required profile

• 7–9 years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality or data architecture.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering or a related field.
• Strong stakeholder management, consulting and documentation skills.
• Experience working with enterprise‑scale data environments.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Purview and/or Databricks Unity Catalog.
• Proficiency with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks and Azure SQL.
• Power BI / Microsoft Fabric for reporting and dashboards.
• Knowledge of data security, privacy, access governance and compliance.
• Understanding of Azure cloud data platforms and data lineage concepts.
