Senior Hydraulic and Irrigation Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Senior Hydraulic and Irrigation Engineer to join SMEC’s Water Resources and Irrigation project in Lahore. The successful candidate will lead technical studies, design and implementation of large‑scale irrigation and hydraulic infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead hydraulic and irrigation engineering studies, design activities and technical assessments for water resources projects.
• Perform hydraulic modelling, water‑flow analysis and irrigation network design in line with project requirements and international standards.
• Prepare technical reports, design calculations, BOQs, specifications and engineering drawings.
• Design and review canals, pipelines, pumping stations, drainage systems and related hydraulic structures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental) to ensure effective project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance during planning, execution and implementation phases and assess project risks related to hydraulic performance and environmental considerations.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Irrigation Engineering or a related discipline (Bachelor’s or Master’s preferred).
• 10‑15 years of experience in hydraulic and irrigation engineering, preferably on large‑scale projects.
• Proven experience in a consultancy environment and ability to build trusted client relationships.
