Software Engineer II – Backend (NextGen Engineering)

About the role

Careem is looking for a Software Engineer II to join its NextGen Engineering programme. You will work on highly distributed backend services that power the Careem platform, gaining exposure to large‑scale systems and advanced technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain distributed backend services using Java 8 and Spring Boot.
• Scale micro‑service architectures to meet high‑traffic, reliability, and performance requirements.
• Write clean, testable code with a focus on readability, maintainability, and quality.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and other engineers in an autonomous, cross‑functional agile team.
• Document system designs and continuously improve engineering practices.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong commitment to delivering high‑quality solutions and excellent customer service.
