Structural Design Engineer

About the role

SMEC is seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join its hydropower team in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The role involves delivering structural designs for hydropower, road and other infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with specifications, standards and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review structural designs, calculations, drawings and technical specifications for hydropower, roads and infrastructure projects.
• Perform structural analysis and design using engineering software and international design standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to integrate structural solutions with other engineering disciplines.
• Provide technical support during construction and respond to design‑related queries from site teams.
• Identify and resolve engineering challenges by developing practical, cost‑effective design solutions.
• Prepare technical reports, design documentation and ensure compliance with quality, safety and best‑practice standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s in Structural Engineering is an advantage).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in structural design of hydropower, roads, bridges and related infrastructure.
• Proven experience with reinforced concrete and steel structure design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
