Tax Manager

About the role

We are a growing UK accountancy practice seeking a technically strong Tax Manager to lead our Pakistan‑based tax function. The role will own the quality, timeliness and efficiency of UK corporation tax, personal tax, capital gains tax, P11D and related compliance and advisory work.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, coach and develop a team of up to four tax staff.
• Plan workloads, allocate cases and ensure statutory and internal deadlines are met.
• Oversee and review UK corporation tax returns (CT600), Self Assessment returns, capital gains tax computations and P11Ds.
• Ensure all work complies with current UK tax legislation, HMRC requirements and internal quality standards.
• Identify technical issues, tax risks and planning opportunities early.
• Manage HMRC correspondence, notices, enquiries and penalty matters, escalating as needed.
• Maintain accurate workflow records and improve tax working papers, templates and review controls.
• Monitor team quality, productivity and turnaround times, implementing corrective actions when required.
• Communicate complex tax matters clearly to UK managers and clients.

Required profile

• Fully qualified ICAP Chartered Accountant.
• Minimum four years post‑qualification experience in UK tax compliance.
• Strong practical experience with UK corporation tax, income tax, capital gains tax and benefits reporting.
• Proven experience managing or supervising a tax or accounting team.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and take ownership of tax delivery.
