Teaching Assistant – Elementary School

About the role

The Elementary Teaching Assistant works closely with the lead teacher to create a supportive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment for a diverse international student body. This role assists with instruction, classroom management, and student wellbeing, helping learners achieve academic, social, and emotional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of lessons in Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, providing one‑on‑one or small‑group assistance.
• Prepare and organize learning materials, resources, and classroom centers.
• Reinforce classroom rules and promote positive behaviour in line with school expectations.
• Provide differentiated support for English Language Learners and students needing extra reinforcement or enrichment.
• Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non‑instructional periods to ensure safety.
• Assist with grading, organizing student work, and maintaining classroom records.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and staff to enhance inclusivity and engagement.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and parents regarding student progress and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field (preferred).
• Prior experience working with elementary students in an educational setting (preferred).
• Strong understanding of child development and diverse learning needs.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and families.
