Tooling Engineer

About the role

The company designs and prototypes products for automotive and heavy‑machinery sectors. They are looking for a detail‑oriented Tooling Engineer to design, develop and improve stamping dies, welding fixtures, assembly jigs and related production tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Develop progressive stamping strip layouts, calculate tonnage and forces, and design punches, die blocks and related components for automotive sheet‑metal parts.
• Design welding fixtures, assembly jigs and checking gauges, applying GD&T and robust locating schemes for stamped components.
• Create weld and machining fixtures for large structures such as frames, booms and buckets, considering distortion, thermal effects and safe handling.
• Produce complete 3D CAD models and 2D drawings, select standard tooling components and maintain accurate documentation.
• Identify tooling improvement opportunities, troubleshoot production issues and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• DAE in Mechanical or Tool & Die Making, or B.Tech/BS/BE in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics or related field.
• 2‑5 years of experience in tooling, fixture or die design for automotive or heavy‑machinery applications.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Fusion 360).
• Solid understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, fits and tolerance stack‑up.
• Knowledge of progressive stamping, sheet‑metal forming, welding and machining processes.
• Experience with fixture locating, pneumatic clamping and tooling try‑out activities.
