Unit Head – SME Finance

About the role

The Unit Head – SME Finance will support the Head of SME Finance in building, scaling, and managing the bank's SME financing business. This senior position focuses on strategic growth, development of Shariah‑compliant products, and seamless onboarding and disbursement of financing facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the bank's SME Finance strategy, business plans, and growth initiatives.
• Drive acquisition and onboarding of anchor companies and obligors to expand the SME portfolio.
• Develop and enhance Shariah‑compliant SME financing products aligned with the digital business model.
• Lead end‑to‑end onboarding, ensuring timely completion of business requirements and financing disbursement.
• Conduct comprehensive business due diligence, financial analysis, and industry review in line with the bank's Risk Acceptance Criteria.
• Prepare credit proposals and financing recommendations for approval, adhering to credit policies and Shariah principles.
• Coordinate with internal teams (Relationship Management, Credit Risk, Operations, Technology, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Shariah) to facilitate efficient processing.
• Monitor financing applications, ensure turnaround times, and support periodic reviews and renewals.
• Track portfolio performance, identify emerging risks, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, internal, and Shariah governance requirements.
• Identify opportunities to automate workflows, improve turnaround times, and enhance customer experience through digital solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in SME financing, preferably within a banking environment.
• Strong understanding of Shariah‑compliant financing principles.
• Demonstrated ability to manage anchor relationships and lead cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent analytical skills for business and credit assessments.
• Knowledge of regulatory and risk management standards in the banking sector.
