Accounts Officer

About the role

Ghazlai Education Foundation is looking for a diligent and detail-oriented Accounts Officer to handle day-to-day accounting work, including vouchers, cheque preparation, bank dealings, tax withholding and financial reporting. Accuracy, timely processing and compliance with tax and accounting rules are expected.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare journal vouchers and payment vouchers accurately and on time.
• Prepare cheques after verification and approval.
• Monitor bank balances so that scheduled payments can be made.
• File all vouchers and supporting documents systematically for easy retrieval and audit.
• Prepare financial and other reports as assigned by the Finance Manager.
• Deal with banks on transactions, accounts and related queries.
• Calculate and process withholding tax on salaries, supplies and services, ensuring correct deduction and timely deposit.
• Carry out other accounts duties assigned by the Finance Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or a related field (B.Com / BBA / M.Com preferred).
• 2-3 years of accounts experience; experience in an educational institution or non-profit is preferred.
• Knowledge of withholding tax rules and procedures in Pakistan.
• Good communication skills, attention to detail, accuracy, integrity and the ability to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with accounting software.
• Understanding of vouchers, banking procedures and bookkeeping.
