Assistant Manager / Senior Executive – Taxation

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented taxation professional to join the Finance team of Popular International (Pvt.) Ltd. in Karachi. The role involves managing income, sales and withholding tax compliance for a leading medical device importer and distributor.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and file monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns.
• Ensure compliance with FBR regulations, Income Tax Ordinance, Sales Tax Act, SRB and PRA.
• Handle income tax, sales tax, withholding tax and other statutory tax matters.
• Prepare tax reconciliations and maintain accurate taxation records.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external tax consultants.
• Respond to FBR notices, audits and tax assessments.
• Stay updated on changes in taxation laws and advise management on compliance.
• Support financial reporting by providing accurate tax provisions and calculations.
• Assist in tax planning initiatives to optimise compliance and minimise tax risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
• 3–4 years of relevant taxation experience.
• Professional certifications such as CA Inter, ACCA, ICMA or equivalent are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Income Tax Ordinance, Sales Tax Act, SRB, PRA and FBR e‑portal.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems.
