Assistant Manager – Supply Chain (Telecom)

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Supply Chain will lead procurement activities for telecom infrastructure projects, ensuring timely availability of materials such as optical fiber, pipe & civil works, cloud services, data centre equipment and network components. The role reports to senior management and collaborates closely with operations, finance and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing and procurement strategies for telecom‑related materials and services.
• Manage the full procurement lifecycle: demand planning, purchase requisitions, RFQs/RFPs, supplier evaluation, negotiations, purchase orders, contract administration and vendor performance.
• Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships to secure competitive pricing, quality, and on‑time delivery.
• Drive cost‑optimization initiatives through spend analysis, value engineering and alternative sourcing.
• Coordinate with Operations, Cloud, Managed Services, Data Centre, Finance and other stakeholders to align procurement with project timelines.
• Monitor material availability, inventory levels, supplier KPIs and procurement risks to ensure uninterrupted project execution.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, financial controls, regulatory requirements and audit standards.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Materials team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and present procurement reports, spend analysis, supplier performance reviews and KPI dashboards for strategic decision‑making.
• Identify and implement process improvements and digital procurement initiatives.

Required profile

• BBA/MBA or equivalent academic qualification.
• 3–4 years of relevant experience, preferably in the telecom industry.
• Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong lead generation and negotiation capabilities.
• Proven experience in proposal writing (RFP/RFQ).
