Assistant Professor – Nursing & Midwifery

About the role

The Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery seeks an Assistant Professor to join its undergraduate BScN programme. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the role involves delivering high‑quality theoretical and clinical education, mentoring junior faculty, and contributing to research and curriculum development.

Key responsibilities

• Teach assigned theoretical and clinical courses in the BScN programme, delivering lectures, assessments and feedback.
• Develop and obtain approvals for course proposals, design curriculum grids and assessment strategies.
• Mentor junior faculty members, including instructors and interns, in teaching and research activities.
• Implement innovative, culturally relevant teaching practices that promote student engagement and critical thinking.
• Identify learning gaps and recommend or implement improvement strategies.
• Supervise students during clinical placements and maintain collaborative relationships with affiliated healthcare institutions.
• Participate in curriculum reviews and provide consultancy to other nursing schools.
• Conduct independent or collaborative research, including proposal writing, data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Present research findings at local, national or international forums.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to teach both theoretical and clinical nursing courses at the undergraduate level.
• Experience in curriculum design, course development and assessment planning.
• Proven track record of supervising students in clinical settings.
• Capacity to mentor junior faculty and support their professional development.
• Engagement in scholarly research and dissemination of findings.
