Assistant Resident Engineer – Structure

About the role

SMEC is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer – Structure to join its Roads and Highways project in Kuchlak, Balochistan, Pakistan. The role involves supervising structural works, particularly bridges and related components, ensuring compliance with quality standards and project timelines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Team Leader in reviewing and approving structural designs for bridges, culverts and related works.
• Supervise on‑site construction activities to ensure they meet approved specifications, drawings and quality standards.
• Prepare, review and submit progress reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, local authorities and project teams to facilitate smooth execution of structural components.
• Identify and resolve technical issues on‑site, providing practical solutions to keep the project on schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; a Master’s in Structural Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 12 years of professional experience, including at least 8 years supervising highway structural works.
• Proven experience in a consultancy environment and strong communication and coordination abilities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of structural design standards and quality control procedures.
• Experience supervising bridge and culvert construction.
• Ability to review and approve structural designs.
