Chief Legal Officer – Telecom

About the role

We are seeking a Chief Legal Officer to lead the legal, governance, regulatory and corporate secretarial functions of a leading telecom organization in Pakistan. The role reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for providing strategic legal counsel while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the organization’s legal strategy aligned with business priorities.
• Advise the CEO and senior management on corporate, commercial, regulatory, governance and compliance matters.
• Oversee contracts, major transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships and licensing arrangements.
• Manage litigation, disputes and external counsel, including case strategy, cost and performance.
• Review contracts, employment agreements and legal documents to mitigate risk.
• Lead corporate compliance and governance programs and ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
• Support regulatory matters, financing activities, risk management and intellectual property issues.
• Maintain effective relationships with regulators, government bodies, the judiciary, external counsel and other stakeholders.
• Lead and develop the in‑house legal team, including work allocation, capability building and succession planning.

Required profile

• Up to 20 years of relevant legal experience, including senior leadership roles.
• Experience in telecommunications or another highly regulated industry is preferred.
• Strong background in corporate law, commercial contracts, litigation, compliance and governance.
• Master’s degree or equivalent (minimum 18 years of education), preferably in Law.
• Membership of a Provincial Bar Council; Bar Vocational Course or equivalent preferred.
