Chief Operating Officer

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer will lead the strategic, operational, financial and quality management of the Stadium Road hospital, ensuring efficient daily operations and high‑quality patient care in line with the institution’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the CEO and senior team to develop and execute strategic plans, and maintain a system for quality surveillance and improvement.
• Oversee clinical and non‑clinical departments, implement operational policies, and drive efficiency across the hospital.
• Manage the hospital’s budget, implement cost‑control measures, and ensure financial sustainability without compromising care quality.
• Represent the hospital at board meetings, donor events, and community forums, building strong stakeholder relationships.
• Lead adoption of new technologies, including electronic health records (EHR) and other IT systems, to enhance operations and patient care.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in teaching hospitals or large health‑care organizations, preferably with international exposure.
• Deep knowledge of financial management, budgeting, forecasting and cost‑effectiveness in university teaching hospitals.
• Proven track record of managing complex hospital operations and improving performance.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as needed.

Required skills
