Community Health Outreach Specialist

About the role

A confidential client is hiring a Community Health Outreach Specialist in Peshawar, based at the Panjpeer facility in Hazarkhawani-2. The specialist engages the community to promote health awareness and preventive healthcare, addresses vaccine-related concerns and strengthens coordination with health department structures.

Key responsibilities

• Advocate for health care in the community and engage families through regular household visits, giving personalized health education and supporting LHVs and vaccinators.
• Prioritize polio and other vaccine-preventable disease awareness campaigns to raise vaccination coverage and reduce vaccine hesitancy, dispelling rumors and misconceptions.
• Address broader health issues such as nutrition, water and sanitation hygiene, and other cross-cutting topics.
• Hold group counseling sessions and community group meetings so members can share experiences, ask questions and receive support.
• Take part in surveillance of acute flaccid paralysis and other communicable diseases and contribute information to the public health system.
• Support outreach sessions before, during and after campaigns to strengthen EPI and PEI structures.
• Build relationships with community members, local organizations and leaders, and act as a liaison between the public health organization and the community.
• Assess community health needs, gather data on disparities and barriers, and connect people with health services, vaccination clinics and screenings.
• Run educational workshops and trainings at mosques, schools and festivals, and organize health fairs and events.
• Collaborate with local organizations and respond to health crises by sharing timely information and coordinating support.

Required profile

• F.A./F.Sc.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of the local language, particularly Pashto.
• Excellent communication and demonstration experience.
• Desirable: previous experience in a humanitarian aid organization, in PEI and EPI programmes, and in outreach and awareness work.
