Correspondent (South Asia), Karachi Bureau

About the role

CNA TV International is looking for a Karachi Correspondent to report on business, technology, economic and social issues in Pakistan, with some work also appearing on CNA's digital and radio platforms. The correspondent contributes to coverage across Pakistan and South Asia as CNA expands its regional presence, producing editorial deliverables under the supervision of Singapore-based desk editors and working closely with CNA Digital.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor news developments in Pakistan and the region and provide prompt, accurate updates to guide editorial decisions.
• Plan Pakistan-related coverage, including stories, series and major events, and produce original news, features, analysis, commentaries and special projects.
• File deliverables such as live hits, news stories, feature packages and multi-part series under the guidance of desk editors.
• Build and maintain a network of government officials, business leaders, private-sector professionals and analysts, and liaise with Pakistani officials on behalf of CNA and Mediacorp.
• Exercise sound editorial judgment, travel within Karachi and Pakistan as required, and work irregular hours including weekends and public holidays.
• Contribute ideas to senior editors for major news events and produce content for TV, digital and radio (an advantage).

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years' experience as a full-time journalist in Pakistan; TV experience preferred, with Karachi coverage an advantage.
• Strong, well-established network of contacts across Pakistan.
• Fluency in Urdu is essential; native-level English.
• Willingness to work irregular shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Required skills

• Outstanding writing skills and strong newsgathering abilities.
• Solid understanding of geopolitical sensitivities and editorial red lines.
• Ability to work independently and as a reliable team player.
• Prior experience with visuals, AI tools and social media is an advantage.
