Diagnostic Laboratory Consultant

About the role

We are looking for a senior consultant to lead the launch and growth of our diagnostic laboratory network. The role is freelance, based remotely in Pakistan with occasional travel to Afghanistan.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on laboratory layout, workflow, equipment selection and test menu planning.
• Develop SOPs for pre‑analytical, analytical and post‑analytical processes and set up LIMS, reporting and billing systems.
• Design collection‑center networks, sample transport, cold‑chain logistics and traceability protocols.
• Implement quality management systems (ISO 15189, CAP), internal QC, external quality assurance and audit practices.
• Build doctor referral networks, partnerships with hospitals and corporate clients, and create branding and pricing strategies.
• Deliver a phased launch roadmap, mentor local staff and provide regular progress reports to the CEO.

Required profile

• 8–15+ years of experience in diagnostic laboratory operations and business development.
• Senior experience with a leading laboratory network such as Chughtai Lab, IDC, Aga Khan University Hospital Laboratories, etc.
• Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Pathology, Life Sciences or related field; MBA or healthcare management preferred.

Required skills

• LIMS implementation and management.
• Knowledge of ISO 15189 and CAP accreditation standards.
• Quality control (QC) and external quality assurance (EQA) processes.
