Director Internal Audit

About the role

The Director Internal Audit supports the Chief Internal Auditor in leading the bank’s internal audit function, providing independent, risk‑based assurance across all business areas. This senior position oversees audit planning, execution, and reporting while advising senior management and the Audit Committee on governance and risk matters.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a risk‑based annual audit plan aligned with strategic priorities and regulatory expectations.
• Oversee audit coverage across business, operations, finance, technology, digital banking, risk, compliance and support functions.
• Lead complex, high‑risk audit engagements from planning through final reporting and ensure timely closure of observations.
• Present significant findings, thematic issues and emerging risks to senior leadership and the Audit Committee.
• Mentor and develop the internal audit team, managing performance, capability building and succession planning.
• Maintain effective relationships with the Board, senior management, regulators, external auditors and other key stakeholders.
• Drive audit transformation through data analytics, automation, continuous auditing and digital tools, focusing on cybersecurity, data governance and fintech risks.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in internal audit within the banking or financial services sector.
• Proven ability to lead large audit teams and manage complex, high‑risk engagements.
• Strong knowledge of governance, risk management, internal controls and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with experience presenting to senior executives and audit committees.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional skepticism, independence and continuous learning.
