Director of English & School Education (Pakistan)

About the role

The Director English and School Education will lead British Council’s portfolio in Pakistan, shaping programmes that improve teaching and learning, promote gender equity and generate lasting impact across formal and non‑formal education settings.

Key responsibilities

• Translate global strategies into high‑impact, financially sustainable local programmes.
• Lead business planning, set targets and monitor performance against KPIs.
• Inspire and manage geographically dispersed teams, ensuring quality implementation.
• Develop and negotiate bids, proposals and strategic partnerships.
• Engage with government ministries, donors and international partners to secure support.
• Provide technical expertise, policy advice and thought leadership on English and school education.
• Oversee commercial and financial governance, including KPI tracking.
• Champion equity, diversity and inclusion throughout all operations.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership in education programme delivery, preferably in Pakistan.
• Experience designing and managing English or school education programmes.
• Track record of leading proposals for international development projects.
• Strong stakeholder management with ministries, donors and partners.
• Demonstrated thought leadership in the education sector.
• Ability to lead medium to large teams to achieve results.
• Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in an education‑related field; English proficiency at C1 level.
