Driver

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is hiring a Driver in Quetta to provide safe, reliable and timely transport for IRC staff, visitors and official guests, including to field locations. The driver also keeps the assigned vehicle properly maintained, clean and roadworthy, maintains accurate vehicle records and follows IRC vehicle policies, traffic regulations and safety and security procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Pick up and drop off IRC staff and guests at appointed destinations within the given timeframes.
• Check the vehicle daily and carry out minor, routine maintenance; report maintenance problems to the Supply Chain Officer.
• Drive safely: use seat belts, stay within speed limits and drive defensively and courteously.
• Keep the interior and exterior of the vehicle clean.
• Maintain and update the vehicle logbook with daily trips, mileage, fuel consumption and usage.
• Assist with loading and unloading supplies and parcels, and perform other duties supporting office operations.
• Take part in professional training and other duties as needed.

Required profile

• Valid LTV driving licence.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably with NGOs or INGOs.
• Fluent in the local language.
• Basic literacy.

Required skills

• Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance procedures.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to keep an accurate logbook.
• Responsiveness to security situations and awareness of speed limits and traffic rules.
• Patience and ability to deal effectively with staff.
