Energy Regulatory Attorney – Remote Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to join a leading global energy company on a contract basis. The position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while providing strategic legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations, rates, tariffs, and compliance matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with FERC, state public utility commissions, and environmental standards.
• Draft, file, and manage regulatory documents, petitions, and motions in energy‑related proceedings.
• Analyze proposed regulations, tariffs, and rate cases to identify legal risks and formulate strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, stakeholders, and industry groups to influence favorable outcomes.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and brief senior leadership.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction, preferably with energy regulatory experience.
• Proven experience in energy law, including familiarity with FERC regulations and state utility law.
• Strong analytical and writing abilities to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.

Required skills

• Experience preparing and filing regulatory documents.
• Ability to conduct legal risk assessments for tariffs and rate cases.
• Effective advocacy in regulatory and stakeholder meetings.
