Energy Regulatory Attorney – Remote

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Attorney to provide specialized legal counsel on federal and state energy regulations. This remote contract position supports a leading global energy entity in navigating complex compliance and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on compliance with federal and state energy regulations, including FERC, state public utility commissions, and environmental standards.
• Draft and file regulatory documents, petitions, and motions in energy‑related proceedings before regulatory agencies.
• Analyze proposed regulations, tariffs, and rate cases to assess legal risks and develop strategic responses.
• Represent the client in meetings with regulators, stakeholders, and industry groups to advocate for favorable outcomes.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the energy sector and provide timely updates to leadership.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction, preferably with energy regulatory experience.
• Demonstrated experience in energy law, including familiarity with FERC regulations and state utility law.
• Strong analytical and writing abilities to interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
• Experience handling regulatory filings, proceedings, or policy advocacy in the energy sector.
