Environmental Health & Safety Intern

About the role

This internship supports GSK's Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) function within pharmaceutical operations in Karachi. You will learn to manage environmental impacts, assist with emergency preparedness, and contribute to incident investigations while gaining hands‑on experience in a global biopharma setting.

Key responsibilities

• Learn and assist with proper waste disposal, emission reduction, and hazardous material handling.
• Support emergency response plans for fires, chemical spills, and natural disasters.
• Help investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near‑misses to identify root causes.
• Participate in audits, inspections, and EHS assessments to spot gaps and recommend improvements.
• Contribute to departmental EHS objectives, programs, and projects.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure tasks meet company standards and regulations.

Required profile

• Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Environmental) or EHS‑related coursework preferred.
• Strong interest in environment, health, safety, and sustainability in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles applied in industrial/plant settings.
• Willingness to learn environmental regulations, waste management, and hazardous‑materials handling.
• Analytical mindset for incident investigation and corrective actions.
• Attention to detail, safety‑focused attitude, and commitment to continuous improvement.
