Financial Controller

About the role

Bearaby is seeking a hands‑on Financial Controller to own its accounting function and lead the monthly close process. You will act as the bridge between strategic finance and the day‑to‑day accounting team, ensuring clean, GAAP‑compliant books delivered on schedule while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage the full monthly, quarterly, and annual close (books closed by the 20th).
• Produce GAAP‑compliant financial statements with accurate revenue and expense matching.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory accounting for e‑commerce.
• Lead account reconciliations, audit preparation, and liaison with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Design, document, and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and SOPs.
• Manage, review, and develop the accounting team’s work.
• Deliver timely management reporting (MIS) and variance analysis to leadership.
• Own sales tax/VAT filings and multi‑entity consolidation.
• Maintain and continuously improve accounting systems (QuickBooks) and inventory tracking.

Required profile

• 7+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years managing a close or a team.
• CA or CPA strongly preferred.
• Strong US GAAP expertise (mandatory).
• E‑commerce/DTC accounting experience, including inventory costing and GL (mandatory).
• Hands‑on audit, reconciliation, and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently across US time zones.
