Financial Controller – Remote, $100k/year

About the role

You will lead global finance operations while staying hands‑on enough to ensure accuracy and continuous improvement. The role blends management of senior accountants with direct inspection of invoices, payments, reconciliations and allocations, and leverages AI and automation to reduce manual effort.

Key responsibilities

• Run day‑to‑day global finance operations through a team of Senior Accountants, prioritising work by deadlines, business impact and financial risk.
• Inspect finance dashboards, invoices, payments, reconciliations and allocations to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Diagnose quality failures, identify root causes (data, system configuration, accounting treatment or process) and produce evidence‑based coaching to prevent recurrence.
• Identify and implement AI, LLM and automation opportunities to eliminate manual work and improve speed and accuracy.

Required profile

• A degree in Accounting or Finance and a recognised professional qualification (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Experience with at least five Big 4 audits, either as auditor or client.
• Hands‑on experience in AP, AR, bank and control‑account reconciliations, and revenue/spend allocation for organisations of $100 M+ revenue.
• People‑management experience with direct responsibility for finance professionals.

Required skills

• Integration of AI and large‑language‑model tools into high‑volume finance workflows.
• Finance workflow automation using platforms such as n8n, Claude Code or similar.
• Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing.
• Bank and control‑account reconciliations.
• Revenue and spend allocation.
