Flight Control Systems Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Flight Control Systems Engineer to join DSS Aerospace’s UAV team in Islamabad. The successful candidate will design, develop and validate advanced flight control algorithms for unmanned aerial vehicles, ensuring high‑performance autonomous flight.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, analyze, implement and optimise linear and non‑linear flight control algorithms for UAV platforms.
• Design, execute and validate Software‑in‑the‑Loop (SIL) and Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HITL) simulations using MATLAB/Simulink, ROS and related tools.
• Model, simulate and evaluate aircraft flight dynamics, stability and control performance.
• Integrate and calibrate sensors such as IMUs, GNSS/GPS, airspeed sensors, magnetometers and barometers.
• Configure, customise and optimise flight control software based on PX4, ArduPilot or proprietary stacks.
• Develop state‑estimation and sensor‑fusion algorithms to enhance navigation and flight accuracy.
• Collaborate with avionics, embedded, software and mechanical engineering teams for seamless system integration.
• Analyse flight‑test data, troubleshoot control issues and implement performance improvements.
• Prepare technical documentation, design reports and test procedures.
• Support ground and flight testing activities for UAV validation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Control Systems, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of flight dynamics, aircraft stability, control theory and state estimation.
• Hands‑on experience with MATLAB/Simulink for modelling, simulation and controller development.
• Practical experience with SIL and HITL testing environments.
• Knowledge of ROS, PX4, ArduPilot or similar flight‑control frameworks.
• Familiarity with UAV sensor integration, calibration and fusion techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and debugging abilities.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
