Global MHPSS Technical Advisor

About the role

The Global MHPSS Technical Advisor provides technical oversight and programmatic guidance to International Medical Corps’ mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities worldwide. The role supports country teams, ensures compliance with global standards, and contributes to the development of high‑quality, culturally appropriate interventions for crisis‑affected populations.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and oversee the design and implementation of MHPSS programs, including MH/PHC integration, case management, early childhood development, and peer‑support initiatives.
• Assist country teams in proposal development and ensure all activities align with IASC MHPSS guidelines and IMC’s technical standards.
• Develop standardized monitoring and evaluation tools, capture lessons learned, and produce field trip reports with situational analyses and recommendations.
• Represent IMC at national and international conferences, support coordination working groups, and foster partnerships with governments and NGOs.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in psychology, clinical social work, psychiatry, psychiatric nursing, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in mental health, with at least 5 years leading MHPSS programs in humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
• Strong knowledge of IASC MHPSS guidelines and experience in capacity‑building and mentorship.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and ability to work under pressure and travel frequently.
