Head Nurse – Surgery Department

About the role

The Aga Khan University Hospital seeks an experienced Head Nurse to lead the Surgery Department. You will oversee 24/7 staffing, ensure high‑quality patient care, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage 24/7 staffing schedules in line with hospital standards and remain available for shift duties as needed.
• Ensure timely physician rounds, monitor patient treatment regimens, and resolve patient or family complaints.
• Collaborate with support services to maintain quality care and meet patient requirements.
• Lead quality improvement projects with multidisciplinary teams and monitor unit‑based standards, goals, and objectives.
• Mentor nursing staff, encourage innovation, and support professional development.

Required profile

• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BScN); Master’s degree preferred; valid Pakistan Nursing Council license.
• Minimum four years of nursing experience, including at least two years in a management role.
• Certification in CPR, Safe Medication Administration, Aseptic Techniques, I/V Cannulation, and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
