Head of Contracts and Claims for Hydropower Projects

About the role

SMEC is seeking a senior professional to lead contracts and claims for a hydropower project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The role involves overseeing contract administration, ensuring compliance, and resolving disputes throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review, and manage contracts for hydropower projects, covering scope, terms, and conditions.
• Ensure all contracts meet legal requirements and project specifications.
• Handle and resolve claims, disputes, and contractual issues as they arise.
• Prepare regular performance and claims status reports for senior management.
• Liaise with legal advisors and external consultants to resolve complex claims.
• Identify contract‑related risks and devise mitigation strategies.
• Maintain comprehensive records of contracts, claims, and related correspondence.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in contract management, construction administration, and claims resolution, preferably in hydropower projects.
• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of hydropower project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership abilities.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Extensive experience with FIDIC contract management.
• Expertise in claims resolution for dam and hydropower projects.
