Healthcare Virtual Assistant (Remote)

About the role

EDGE is seeking a remote Healthcare Virtual Assistant to support US‑based clinics and healthcare practices. The role serves as a critical liaison between patients, providers, and insurers, ensuring smooth scheduling, eligibility checks, and prior authorization processes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive insurance verification and eligibility checks before appointments.
• Interpret insurance policies (PPO, HMO, Medicare/Medicaid) and document patient financial responsibilities.
• Prepare, submit, and track prior authorization requests via portals, fax, or phone.
• Handle inbound/outbound calls to schedule, reschedule, and remind patients of visits.
• Manage clinicians' calendars to optimize workflow and minimize gaps in care.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of direct experience in US healthcare operations (scheduling, eligibility, prior authorizations, insurance verification).
• Strong analytical ability and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with insurance portals such as Availity, Optum, CoverMyMeds.
• Experience using EHR/practice‑management systems like ECW, Tebra, Dentrix.
