HR Specialist – Contractor Management (US)

About the role

The HR Specialist supports the contractor workforce across the United States and global jurisdictions, handling performance management, terminations, and employee‑law compliance. This position serves as the primary escalation point for contractor‑related risks and grievances.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for under‑performing contractors in partnership with client managers, account managers, and legal counsel.
• Lead end‑to‑end involuntary terminations, drafting compliant documentation and coordinating with Legal, Payroll, and Off‑boarding teams.
• Act as the escalation hub for contractor grievances, workplace concerns, and conduct issues.
• Ensure HR practices align with local labor laws, including US state‑specific regulations and global labor standards.
• Partner with internal or external legal counsel on high‑risk matters such as discrimination claims or wrongful‑termination exposure.
• Investigate and resolve HR complaints (harassment, discrimination, policy violations) while maintaining confidentiality.
• Maintain and update contractor‑focused HR policies and procedures.
• Provide risk advice to account managers before escalating to formal PIPs or terminations.
• Track and report case trends, PIP outcomes, and termination metrics to HR leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of HR generalist experience, including performance management and terminations.
• Working knowledge of US employment‑law fundamentals (at‑will, FLSA, EEOC) and familiarity with global labor‑law concepts.
• Experience in the staffing or contingent‑workforce industry is strongly preferred.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and comfort handling confidential, emotionally sensitive situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
