IT Security & Systems Engineer

About the role

The IT Security & Systems Engineer will ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the company’s on‑premise and cloud infrastructure. Working across security operations, system administration and networking, the role combines day‑to‑day IT support with proactive security management.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and respond to security alerts using Microsoft Defender, Sentinel or comparable SIEM tools.
• Administer firewalls (pfSense) and VPNs, enforce perimeter hardening and identity controls such as MFA, Conditional Access and DLP.
• Perform vulnerability scanning, patch management and endpoint protection across Windows and Linux hosts.
• Manage Windows Server services – AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy – and Linux servers for backups and automation.
• Secure Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams) and configure Azure and AWS security policies.
• Maintain network infrastructure – routing, VLANs, VPNs, pfSense firewalls – and conduct diagnostics with Wireshark or nmap.
• Develop PowerShell and Bash scripts to automate backups, log collection and health checks.
• Document infrastructure changes, incident response procedures and disaster‑recovery plans.

Required profile

• Solid experience in security operations and system administration for both Windows and Linux environments.
• Hands‑on knowledge of cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, AWS) and Microsoft 365 security features.
• Familiarity with firewall and VPN technologies, especially pfSense.
• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation and automation scripts.
