Label Designer & Prepress Specialist

About the role

Universal Label is seeking a creative and technically proficient Prepress & Label Designer to join its label printing operations in Karachi. The role involves preparing print‑ready artwork, recreating customer samples, and ensuring all designs meet technical specifications for high‑quality label production.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, print‑ready artwork files meeting dimensions, colors, bleeds, and resolution requirements.
• Recreate label designs from customer‑provided samples, images, or instructions.
• Coordinate with plate‑making and die‑making vendors, tracking timely delivery of plates and dies.
• Conduct thorough file checks and proofing before sending designs to print.
• Maintain design quality standards throughout the production process.
• Lead and manage a team of 10 design and prepress staff, ensuring collaboration and adherence to timelines.
• Assist the production team by quickly resolving artwork‑related issues to minimize downtime.
• Utilize Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and CorelDRAW to edit and finalize artwork.
• Stay informed of industry best practices, especially flexographic printing processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in prepress and label design.
• Proven ability to manage a small team and meet production deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent time‑management skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast‑paced printing environment.
• Effective communication skills for vendor coordination.
