Lead Customer Application Engineer

About the role

The Lead Customer Application Engineer (Tendering Engineer) will own the end‑to‑end bid process for grid and substation automation projects. You will translate client requirements into competitive, compliant proposals, work closely with internal teams and external partners, and help secure profitable contracts.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full proposal lifecycle from RFQ analysis to final submission.
• Perform technical analysis of customer needs and define solutions using DS Agile, G500, GPG, AAA portfolio, Cyber Security, MiCOM and Multilin product lines.
• Package offers with Telecom and M&D scopes where required.
• Ensure compliance with technical specifications, standards and commercial objectives.
• Identify key risks, record them in the Risk & Opportunity register and drive mitigation plans.
• Maintain and update the Tendering Tool with typical circuits, schemes and cost models.
• Conduct site assessments for brownfield or existing substations.
• Review and respond to technical clarifications, presenting solutions to customers.
• Support order booking, budget margin tracking and operational hand‑over.
• Lead internal tender reviews, ensure adherence to company policies and manage transfer meetings to operations.
• Perform costing and pricing analysis, maintain third‑party quotes and monitor tender hit‑rate metrics.

Required profile

• Proven experience in tendering and bid management for grid or substation automation projects.
• Strong technical judgment and ability to interpret complex customer requirements.
• Excellent collaboration skills with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Solid understanding of risk management and commercial strategy alignment.
