Officer – Payment Operations

About the role

The Payment Operations Officer will manage the processing of remittances, clearing, and fund transfers, ensuring compliance with turnaround times and regulatory guidelines. The role supports both inbound and outbound transactions while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Process foreign remittance NSTP cases (inward & outward) and incoming RTGS payments within standard TAT, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Handle inward clearing cheques and onus fund transfers, meeting established timelines and SOPs.
• Settle GLs related to cash and cheque deposits, perform reconciliations, and follow up with internal stakeholders and partner banks.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports on schedule.
• Coordinate with local and foreign correspondent banks to resolve payment queries.
• Screen all transactions against sanction and watch lists, escalating flagged cases to Compliance.
• Maintain systematic documentation and correspondence records for efficient retrieval.
• Identify process gaps, recommend improvements, and participate in user acceptance testing for system upgrades.
• Address internal and external enquiries/complaints promptly, ensuring resolution within defined TAT.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of banking operations experience, preferably in remittances.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal abilities.
• Understanding of data models and analysis.
• Good computer operating skills.
• Knowledge of general banking rules and regulations.
